2. The main part of a sentence refering to something that was said, commonly the first major constituent.

Topics come in many different shapes and sizes. You can literally never run out of topics to talk about with so many different things in the world today. The most popular topics in the world revolve around sex, violence, and conspiracy. It seems to be human nature to enjoy watching or listening to someone elses drama. Not so fun if the topics about you, but entertaining when it's about someone else.
