FireFox favicon Not Showing

In mid july 2012 FireFox abolished the once famous Favicon from the left of the search toolbar. While we may have percieved the firefox favicons to be harmless and a great way for people to keep track of our sites via bookmarks, Firefox disagree's strongly.

It appears that there have been several cases of missleading and manipulative tacts when it comes to the firfox favicon. Peoploe were secure ssl, padlocks, and other security related images as their favicon to misslead viewers into thinking they were a trusted site. Because of the alarming amount of reports, firefox decided to take matters in their own hands and completely eliminate the search tool bar favicon all together.

From now one you'll see default favicons to instruct viewers if a sites really safe or not. Sites with no added security will have a simple gray image of the earth (globe) as it's favicon now. It's sad sometimes how a few bad apples can ruin all the great things in the world for others that we enjoyed.

Fare well firefox favicons, you will be deeply missed in all the years to come. Other browser powerhouses are also considering removing the faqvicon from their toolbars as well (IE favicon, Opera Favicon, Chrome Favicon, Netscape favicon, etc.)
